An acting Principal Officer of the Correctional Services Department (CSD) has been charged by the ICAC for bringing a USB memory stick containing pornographic images into a prison.

The defendant, 46, faces one count of bringing unauthorised articles into prison, contrary to Section 18(1) of the Prisons Ordinance.

The defendant will appear in Eastern Magistracy at 9:30 am tomorrow (Friday) for plea.

The case arose from a corruption report. Subsequent enquiries revealed the above alleged offence. CSD has rendered full assistance in the ICAC's investigation.

The charge alleges that the defendant had brought a USB memory stick and a lipstick without authorisation into Stanley Prison on December 8, 2009 when he was on duty.

ICAC inquiries reveal that the USB memory stick contained over 400 pornographic images.

The defendant has been granted ICAC bail, pending his court appearance tomorrow.
