Response Statement 20/04/2010

In response to media enquiries, an ICAC spokesman today (Tuesday) confirmed that a total of 38 persons were arrested in an operation, jointly conducted with the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) of the Police in connection with a corruption facilitated cross-boundary vice investigation.

The operation, code-named "Sea Lion", arose from corruption allegations against a police officer and various operators of vice establishments who recruited Mainland women to Hong Kong to engage in vice activities.

Arrested in the operation were a police sergeant, one vice operator, seven pimps, eight associated persons, and 21 Mainland women.

The Immigration Department has also offered assistance in the course of the ICAC investigation.

The operation is continuing.
