Conference on Corporate Governance in the Financial Sector

The financial tsunami rocked the global market in 2008 and its impact still lingers in 2009. To provide a timely platform for senior officials from the Government and relating regulatory bodies, business leaders and professionals to share experience and exchange views on various ethical challenges facing company directors, especially during the financial tsunami, the ICAC, the Ministry of Supervision, PRC and the Commission Against Corruption, Macao jointly organised the Conference on Corporate Governance in the Financial Sector in December 2008.

The Conference was also supported by six member chambers of the Hong Kong Ethics Development Advisory Committee as well as seven local regulatory and professional bodies including the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Securities and Futures Commission, The Law Society of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries, Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Hong Kong Institute of Directors.

This issue captures the background, highlights, key speeches and deliberations of the Conference. You can find the inspiring sharing and interactions among prominent government and corporate leaders on ethical governance and directors' ethics.
