The Important Event - the Forum
A Showcase of Concerted Efforts to Promote Directors' Ethics
|
2007 Directors' Forum was the kicking off event for the first-ever coordinated, structured and systematic training programme for company directors. It is indeed a showcase of concerted efforts of major institutional stakeholders to promote company directors' ethical governance on a long-term basis. Heads of the 13 co-organisers pledged their full support for the event. Mr Timothy Tong Hin-ming, Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), remarked such partnership as a manifesto of Hong Kong's dedication to promote good corporate governance while the Honourable John Tsang Chun-wah, JP, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR, congratulated these 13 sterling partners in taking forward such an ambitious and important venture. Mr Kenneth Ting, Chairman of the Hong Kong Ethics Development Advisory Committee (EDAC), and Mr Jim Wardell, Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Programme, were also delighted that this significant event could be brought into reality under collaborated efforts.

A case study was specially designed for participants to discuss different aspects of directors' roles, responsibilities and ethical paradoxes at the concurrent group discussions. Well-known representatives from the co-organisers also served as facilitators of the group discussions. A Super Panel chaired by Mr Jim Wardell, Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Programme, was also formed to exchange views with participants on the issues discussed. (Please click here for the list of Super Panel Members.)
Participants generally remarked that the Forum was a fruitful and rewarding event for them to rethink the issue of ethical governance and leadership. For example, as reviewed from the questionnaires collected, 90% of respondents rated the case study as very useful and found the session thought-provoking. To see more about the Forum, please click:
