A new Commissioner

In August 2003 Mr. Raymond WONG Hung-chiu was appointed Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption. Aged 46, Mr. WONG has worked in various bureaux and departments within the Hong Kong Government and was Commissioner for Narcotics in 1996. Prior to the appointment at ICAC he was Commissioner of Customs and Excise.

Mr. ZHANG Xuejun (left), Chief Procurator of Guangdong Provincial People's Procuratorate, received a plaque from Mr. Raymond WongIn late September Mr. WONG undertook his first official visit to Mainland China when he led a delegation to Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing. "During the visit, we will exchange experiences with the Mainland authorities on the latest development of anti-corruption work," said Mr. WONG who will lead another delegation to Europe in early November. On this occasion he will visit Berlin, London, Belfast and Paris where he will meet with law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies to share knowledge and enhance co-operation. Mr. WONG will be a speaker at the Conference on Police Accountability whilst in Belfast.

A new International Liaison officer
