Households are randomly selected using a scientific sampling method. The ICAC will issue notification letters to selected households. They are welcome to call the research agency or the ICAC according to the information in the notification letters, to arrange an interview by appointment.

[Note: The ICAC and the research agency would not send SMS messages or emails to the public to invite interviews.]

The survey is targeted to cover persons aged between 15 and 74 living in Hong Kong. If there are more than one member fulfilling the above criteria in the selected household, the interviewer from the research agency will employ the "Next Birthday Rule" sampling method to invite the member who have the birthday soonest for the interview.

The interview will last for 10 - 15 minutes. Interviewers from the research agency will visit households between 10:00 a.m. and 9:45 p.m. during the survey period to conduct a simple interview.

Interviewers in uniform will bear an authorisation letter issued by the ICAC and a staff card of the research agency for identification purposes. In case of doubt, please call the ICAC at 2826 3267.

All data collected will be compiled in aggregate. All personal information and opinions collected from the survey will not be disclosed to any other government departments or organisations, the completed questionnaires will be destroyed after completion of the survey.
