The Operations Department is the investigative arm of the ICAC. Its statutory duties set out in the Independent Commission Against Corruption Ordinance (Cap. 204) are to:
- Receive and consider complaints alleging corrupt practices and investigate such of those complaints as the Commissioner of the ICAC considers practicable.
- Investigate any alleged or suspected offence under the ICAC Ordinance (Cap. 204), the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (Cap. 201) and the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (Cap. 554).
- Investigate any alleged or suspected offence of blackmail committed by a prescribed officer (please click Text of the Law for definition) by or through the misuse of his office.
- Investigate any conduct of a prescribed officer which is connected with or conducive to corrupt practices and to report thereon to the Chief Executive.
