At the virtual Gender Mainstreaming and Mentoring in Anti-Corruption Agencies Symposium organised by New Zealand hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation's Anti-Corruption and Transparency Experts Working Group in April 2021, Secretary to Commission against Corruption Sally Kwan shared a video on how the ICAC's effective fight against corruption over the past 47 years has successfully developed and maintained a fair and equal society for both men and women in Hong Kong.

Ms Kwan highlighted that the status of women in Hong Kong has continued to improve in the past decades with women taking up over 30% of the managerial positions across different sectors. Meanwhile, women also played an important role in anti-corruption, with more than 40% of the ICAC's staff and senior officers are female. Similar percentage of women is represented in the ICAC's oversight committees, making sure that women's voices and perspectives are taken on-board when formulating work strategies.
