ICAC Micro Film Festival showcases probity values through the eyes of young people

The first Youth Integrity Micro Film Festival organized by the ICAC attracted around 190 youngsters to produce about 50 micro films to explore the values of integrity and probity.
At the Festival’s commendation ceremony held at the ICAC Building today (Thursday), ICAC Commissioner Simon Peh Yun-lu said the films illustrated the evils of corruption and carried positive messages, showing that the young generation supported the anti-corruption cause and possessed a positive outlook.
All entries to the Micro Film Festival were directed and produced by the young participants, who employed different approaches to share their vision of integrity and positive values. These films were based on different scenarios, including bribery cases in public and private organisations, election malpractice on school campus as well as moral dilemmas.
“The creative works of the young people also show that our new generation upholds a high moral standard and is eager to safeguard the integrity of our society. I trust that the young generation of Hong Kong will work hand in hand with the ICAC in upholdin g the core value of integrity,” said Mr Peh.
Entries to the Youth Integrity Micro Film Festival were adjudicated in different categories. Those aged 30 or below could enter the open category as individuals or in groups. In addition, invitations were extended to the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Gr oups Jockey Club Media 21, the School of Communication of the Hong Kong Baptist University, and School of Journalism and Communication of the Chinese University of Hong Kong as partners of the project. Participants from these organisations were awarded s ubsidies from the Commission for producing their entries and received training in creativity as well as advice from their instructors.
The panel of adjudicators of the Micro Film Festival comprised of professionals from the film and TV industry, including director Adam Wong Sau-ping, veteran directors Jeremy Yung Wai-mi and Terry Tong Kei-ming, and producer Tommy Leung. They shared thei r film-making experience with participants at today’s commendation ceremony.
The micro film entries feature three main themes: “Corruption-free City - Hong Kong: Our Home”, “Corruption and Society” and “A Fuller Life”. Outstanding entries in the open category were commended with the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. In addition, various entries from the partnering organisations were presented the Excellent Award, 4 Special Commendation Awards, the Creativity Award and Style Award.
