ICAC appoints Simon Peh as Special Adviser to continue serving as IAACA President in coming year
2022-9-1
The ICAC today (September 1) announced the transitional arrangement for the President of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) and appointed former Commissioner Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu as Special Adviser, ICAC for a term of one year while continuing to serve as President of the IAACA during the period. The arrangement has the support of the Central People’s Government (CPG) and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
The ICAC intends that the arrangement will facilitate a smooth transition of the IAACA presidency in compliance with the requirements of its constitution and the coordination of a seamless handover of the work of the association to ICAC Commissioner Mr Danny Woo Ying-ming.
While serving as ICAC Commissioner in January this year, Mr Peh, with approval from the CPG and the Government of HKSAR, was elected President of the IAACA. According to the IAACA constitution, its presidency is to be taken up by the chief or a designated official of the relevant organisation.
Mr Peh had been actively involved in the work of IAACA in the past 10 years. He also served as convenor of the IAACA training committee since 2017 and had successfully implemented a number of training initiatives for the organisation. In the coming 12 months, Mr Peh will continue to lead the IAACA to carry out various initiatives, and contribute to a seamless handover of its work.
The IAACA was founded in 2006 as an independent, non-political institution aiming to promote the effective implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and fostering international anti-corruption collaboration. About 150 anti-corruption organisations from different countries and regions around the world have joined the IAACA as members.
