ICAC Commissioner leads delegation to visit Singapore to foster international anti-graft cooperation

ICAC Commissioner Mr Danny Woo Ying-ming today (September 19) commences his first duty visit after assuming the post, leading an ICAC delegation to visit Singapore where he will meet anti-corruption counterparts in the region to establish post-pandemic anti-graft exchanges, deepen international cooperation in combatting corruption and tell the world the good stories of Hong Kong.
Calling on the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) in Singapore this morning, Mr Woo and Director of CPIB, Mr Denis Tang, held a bi-lateral meeting. Mr Woo updated the CPIB chief on Hong Kong’s latest developments and rule of law, as well as the ICAC’ anti-graft efforts. They also exchanged views on deepening future collaboration in combatting corruption.
“During the past two years, face-to-face exchanges between the ICAC and other anti-corruption agencies were inevitably affected by the global pandemic. On this trip, I look forward to meeting our long-time anti-graft counterparts personally. In addition to fostering closer collaborations, I will also seize the opportunity to demonstrate to the international community Hong Kong’s strong rule of law and stability,” Mr Woo said.
Tomorrow (September 20) Mr Woo and the Secretariat of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation will hold a bi-lateral meeting to share the latest on international anti-graft initiatives and strategies. Following that, Mr Woo will meet Mr Hoong Wee Teck, Commissioner of the Singapore Police Force as well as Deputy Attorney General of Singapore and other senior officials.
On Wednesday (September 21), Mr Woo will hold bi-lateral meetings with officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Brunei Darussalam and Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of Indonesia respectively to exchange anti-graft experience and strengthen regional liaison as well as future anti-graft collaborations in law enforcement, prevention and education. Mr Woo will also attend the CPIB’s 70th Anniversary Dinner Event in the evening.
ICAC officers accompanying Mr Woo on the Singapore visit are Mr Choi Shu-keung, Director of Investigation (Private Sector) of the Operations Department, Ms Sally Kwan Yee-lan, Director of International Cooperation and Corporate Services, Mr Wong Wai-kit, Principal Investigator of the Operations Department, and Ms Crystal Lee Ngan-yan, Senior International Cooperation Officer.
The delegation will return to Hong Kong on Thursday (September 22). All members will undergo compulsory quarantine arrangements in accordance with the latest measures of the Department of Health.
