ICAC chief attends international conference to share cross-jurisdiction cooperation in graft fight

ICAC Commissioner Simon Peh Yun-lu today (Monday) departed for Nanning, Guangxi to attend an international conference for top prosecutors to exchange experience and strengthen cross-jurisdiction cooperation on fugitive repatriation and asset recovery.
The 9th China-ASEAN Prosecutors General Conference, hosted by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP), gathers heads of public prosecutor and senior law enforcement officials of ASEAN countries, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao.
Mr Peh will deliver a speech on Wednesday at a plenary session of the conference entitled “International Cooperation on Fugitive Repatriation and Asset Recovery”.
During the five-day conference, the Commissioner will also meet Professor Cao Jianming, Procurator General of the SPP, to exchange views on the latest development in anti-corruption initiatives of both places.
The China-ASEAN Prosecutors General Conference was established in 2004. The conference aims to strengthen international cooperation between Mainland and countries in Southeast Asia in combating against cross-border crime effectively and efficiently as well as formulating action plans to enhance mutual cooperation mechanism.
Accompanying Mr Peh on his visit is Ken Ho King-yeung, Acting Senior Principal Investigator of ICAC. They will return to Hong Kong on November 26 (Thursday).
