ICAC Statement

2024-1-30

ICAC Commissioner Woo Ying-ming today (January 30) issued the following statement:

“We learn with great sadness and sorrow that former Director of Investigation Mr Francis Lee Chun-sang has passed away. On behalf of all ICAC colleagues, I would like to express our deepest condolences to his family.

Mr Lee joined the ICAC in 1974 and was among the first generation of anti-corruption officers who had ridden out many storms with the organisation.

Under Mr Lee’s leadership as Director of Investigation between 1996 and 2010, the ICAC successfully cracked down corruption cases in both the public and private sectors. He was awarded the ICAC Medal for Distinguished Service by the Chief Executive in 1999. We would like to express our profound respect for Mr Lee for his contributions to Hong Kong’s anti-corruption work.

Mr Lee served the ICAC for more than 35 years. A mentor and a friend, he was always ready to share his experiences and was well loved and respected by colleagues.

Colleagues who had worked with Mr Lee will fondly remember him as an inspiring and caring leader.”
