ICAC Response Statement
2016-3-24
In response to media enquiries, an ICAC spokesman today (Thursday) said the ICAC had completed its investigation into complaints received in August 2014 against an officer of the Lands Department, alleging corruption and/or misconduct in public office concerning her land purchase/use in Yuen Long. Based on the findings of the investigation, the ICAC has sought legal advice from the Department of Justice, which is of the view that the evidence is insufficient to establish that the officer concerned has committed any criminal offence, and decided that no prosecution should be instituted.
In accordance with established procedures, the result of the investigation was reported to the independent Operations Review Committee which, at its meeting held yesterday (March 23), endorsed that no further investigative action would be taken by the ICAC, and that the findings should be referred to the Director of Lands for consideration of disciplinary and/or administrative action.
The Lands Department had rendered full assistance to the ICAC during its investigation.
