2025-12-7
The ICAC today (December 7) obtained a warrant issued by a Magistrate for the arrest of a man suspicious of attempting to sabotage the 2025 Legislative Council General Election (LegCo Election) by leaving a comment on a social media platform publicly to incite others not to vote at the election during the election period, in contravention of section 27A of the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (ECICO).
Wong Ho-tin, 24, faces one charge, contrary to section 27A(1)(a) of the ECICO. The charge alleges that yesterday (December 6) Wong carried out an activity in public, namely left a comment on a social media platform, to incite others not to vote at the LegCo Election.
A total of 11 individuals were arrested by the ICAC for allegedly contravening 27A of the ECICO in relation to the current LegCo Election, including four who were arrested earlier today. Among them, three were prosecuted.
The ICAC reiterates that publicly inciting others not to vote or to cast invalid votes during the election period is a violation of section 27A of the ECICO. The Commission is determined to uphold a clean election and will not tolerate anyone to sabotage or interfere with the election. The Commission will take resolute enforcement actions to ensure that the election will be conducted safely, fairly, openly and honestly.
