Over 470 volunteers of the ICAC Club were today (Sunday) commended for their dedication and diligent service in helping the ICAC promote the messages of probity and integrity in the community.

Officiating at the ICAC Club annual award presentation ceremony this morning, Professor Timothy Tong Wai-cheung, Chairman of the ICAC’s Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations (CACCR), praised these volunteers for fulfilling an important role as multipliers of anti-corruption messages in different sectors and amongst their friends and families.

Professor Tong encouraged ICAC Club members to continue to support the anti-corruption cause and actively participate in the multi-year “All for Integrity” education and publicity programme organised by the Community Relations Department (CRD) to help pass on the value of integrity in the society.

In 2015, over 470 Club members had clocked up about 6,000 hours of voluntary service in assisting in various CRD activities, including exhibitions and drama performance to promote clean District Council elections and community visits to the ICAC. A total of 131 members received special awards for their long service or commendable contributions.

Professor Tong also revealed that a Youth Chapter would be set up next year to engage more young people in promoting anti-corruption cause to tie in with the 20th anniversary of the ICAC Club.

Among the guests attending today’s event were members and co-opted member of the CACCR, including Professor John Lee Chi-kin, Mrs Agnes Koon Woo Kam-oi, Mr Norman Lo Kam-wah, Mr Thomas Lo Sui-sing, Dr Eugene Chan Kin-keung, Ms Bonnie Chan Shum-yue and Ms Lam Pik-chu.

The ICAC Club is a voluntary group set up in 1997 to promote civic participation in anti-corruption activities. It now has about 1,500 members from different walks of life.
