ICAC chief visits Mainland to foster anti-graft cooperation

An ICAC delegation led by Commissioner Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu today (May 31) commenced an official visit to call on anti-corruption and law enforcement authorities in Beijing and Guangdong, including the newly established National Supervisory Commission.

During his stay in Beijing, Mr Peh will visit the National Supervisory Commission and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate for exchanges on the latest development in anti-corruption initiatives, and discussion on future cooperation between the two places under the new supervision law.

In addition, the Commissioner will visit the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Public Security and the Chinese Academy of Discipline Inspection and Supervision to learn about the training regime for anti-corruption officers in the Mainland. Mr Peh will also visit the Chinese Academy of Governance where he will open and address a National Studies Course participated by middle to senior ranking ICAC officers on Sunday (June 3). The ICAC delegation will then depart for Guangdong.

In Guangzhou, the delegation will call on the Guangdong Provincial Supervisory Commission, the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department and the Guangdong Provincial People’s Procuratorate to exchange experiences in anti-corruption work.

Prior to its return, the delegation will head for Shenzhen for a visit to the Shenzhen Municipal Supervisory Commission and the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau.

Accompanying Mr Peh on his visit are Mr Ricky Chu Man-kin, Director of Investigation (Private Sector) of the Operations Department; Mr Ken Ho King-yeung, Assistant Director of the Operations Department; Mr Lawrence Chung Wan-hon, Principal Liaison Officer of the International and Mainland Liaison Office of the Community Relations Department; Ms Miranda Cheung Ka-po, Principal Investigator and Mr Raymond Kong Yim-kwan, Chief Investigator. The delegation will conclude its visit and return to Hong Kong on Tuesday (June 5).
