2018-12-6

ICAC Commissioner Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu today (December 6) commences a visit to Putrajaya, Malaysia where he will attend meetings of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) to foster international exchanges in the fight against corruption.

Mr Peh is currently an Executive Committee member of the IAACA and Convenor of its Training Committee. He will chair the IAACA’s second Training Committee meeting this morning and attend its Executive Committee Meeting to be held this afternoon and tomorrow.

During the meetings, Mr Peh will introduce the 7th ICAC Symposium, jointly organised by the ICAC and World Justice Project in May 2019.

Mr Peh will also brief participants on a training programme co-organised with IAACA to be held back-to-back with the Symposium. The programme will include a technical visit to ICAC’s facilities, workshops on investigation, system prevention, and community education and engagement.

In addition, Mr Peh will discuss with other executive committee members the work plan of the IAACA, as well as arrangement of the annual conference and general meeting in 2019.

The IAACA, of which the Hong Kong ICAC has been a member since 2007, is a non-governmental international organisation set up to promote co-operation in worldwide anti-corruption issues and foster the effective implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

During his stay in Malaysia, Mr Peh will also take the opportunity to meet the newly-appointed Director of Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau of Singapore, Mr Denis Tang Siew Taeng, and officials from other anti-corruption agencies, to exchange the latest anti-graft initiatives.

Accompanying Mr Peh to Malaysia are Secretary to Commission Against Corruption, Ms Sally Kwan Yee-lan; Principal International Liaison and Training Officer, Mr Lawrence Chung Wan-hon; and Chief International Liaison and Training Officer, Ms Florence Au Pui-wai. The delegation will return to Hong Kong on Saturday (December 8).
