Commissioner leads IAACA to advance international cooperation

ICAC Commissioner Simon Peh has been the Convenor of the IAACA Training Committee since 2017. Upon assuming the presidency of IAACA in January, Mr Peh convened the first Training Committee Meeting in this new term on May 17, 2022 to chart a way forward for advancing training collaboration and experience sharing in fighting and preventing corruption at international, regional and cluster levels.

The IAACA Secretariat had previously conducted a survey on the training needs of around 300 anti-corruption agencies all over the world. The initial findings would provide useful reference for the Committee to develop its training plan.

Simultaneously, the ICAC continued its long-standing efforts to promote Hong Kong's probity situation to the international community, notwithstanding the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2022, the Commissioner and senior ICAC officers conducted online meetings with the management of Transparency International (TI), World Justice Project (WJP) and the Political and Economic Risk Consultancy (PERC) separately to update them on the latest integrity situation in Hong Kong and ICAC's new role in the international anti-corruption arena.

In addition, the ICAC conducted on-line training for graft busters of Sri Lanka, Morocco, Thailand, Romania and Laos in the first half of 2022. Their positive feedbacks were solid proof of the importance of collaboration and experience sharing among anti-corruption counterparts as well as forging mutual capacity.

The online trainings on investigation module were well-attended by over 80 anti-corruption fighters with many positive responses received on ICAC speakers' insightful sharing.
