ICAC commences opinion survey to gauge public views on anti-graft work

2021-4-27

The ICAC will kick start its annual opinion survey from Friday (April 30) to gauge the public’s views on the Commission’s graft-fighting work and their attitude towards corruption.

Over the years, the ICAC has engaged independent and professional research agencies to conduct the annual poll. This year, a total of about 1,700 local residents will be selected through random sampling for household interviews.

“In accordance with the changing structure of Hong Kong population, target respondents of the 2021 ICAC Annual Survey will cover persons aged between 15 and 74 instead of 15 and 64 in previous surveys. We are hoping to collect the opinions of different age groups in the community to help us formulate and fine-tune our anti-corruption strategies,” said an ICAC spokesman.

Commencing from today, selected households will receive a notification letter from the ICAC. Interviewers of the independent research agency will visit the selected households between 10:00 am and 9:45 pm during the survey period for a face-to-face interview which lasts for 10 - 15 minutes.

All interviewers will bear an authorisation letter issued by the ICAC as well as an interviewer staff card of the research agency for identification purposes. To follow the anti-epidemic measures, all interviewers are required to check their temperature upon reporting for duty, wear a mask throughout the household interviews and sanitize their hands before and after each interview.

All personal information and opinions collected will be compiled in aggregate for the 2021 ICAC Annual Survey. Completed questionnaires will be destroyed after the completion of the survey.

Details of the opinion survey are available on the ICAC corporate website (www.icac.org.hk). Members of the public may also call the ICAC enquiry hotline 2826 3267 between 10:00 am and 10:00 pm during the survey period for more information.
