A Chief Inspector of Police (CIP), charged by the ICAC, was today (May 26) sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment at the District Court for accepting bribes totalling over .14 million from a merchant and committing misconduct in public office (MIPO) by favouring the merchant in several criminal investigations and divulging Police investigation information to him.

An ICAC corruption investigation revealed that a then general manager of a pharmaceutical wholesaler made false representations regarding consultancy services provided by a secretarial services company operated by his subordinate to defraud the pharmaceutical wholesaler of service fees totalling about .1 million, while a business partner of the subordinate had assisted in money-laundering. The trio were today (May 26) sentenced at the District Court to jail terms ranging from 10 to 26 months.

A woman was charged by the ICAC yesterday (May 20) for allegedly offering a bribe of $10,000 to a legal clerk of the Legal Aid Department (LAD) for assistance in securing the custody of her grandchild.

ICAC Commissioner, Mr Woo Ying-ming, in his capacity of President of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA), successfully concluded the first European regional anti-corruption conference in Hungary. The conference, which marked the largest and most extensive European anti-corruption exchange initiative of the ICAC and the IAACA, had united over 180 international experts from more than 70 anti-corruption, law enforcement and regulatory bodies across Europe and other regions of the world to work beyond geographical boundaries for enhancing multilateral collaboration and advancing integrity governance in Europe and worldwide.

A then operations assistant of a shuttle bus company, charged by the ICAC, was today (May 18) sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment at the Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts for accepting bribes totalling over $32,000 regarding the employment of a driver.

A man charged by the ICAC was today (May 18) sentenced to two months’ imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts after admitting that he had reposted an online post on his social media page which incited others not to vote at the 2025 Legislative Council General Election (LegCo Election) during the election period.

A company director, charged by the ICAC, was today (May 15) sentenced to 32 months’ imprisonment at the District Court after being convicted of offences including obtaining services by deception, following a corruption investigation that revealed the defendant had used a false passport to open bank accounts.

For the first time, a delegation comprising members of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and the Department of Justice (DoJ) attended an international workshop in Viet Nam at the invitation of its co-organisers, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam, to share Hong Kong’s successful experience in anti-corruption law enforcement and prosecution to advance the country’s integrity building initiatives.

A then Chair Professor of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), charged by the ICAC, today (May 13) pleaded guilty at the Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts to accepting a bribe of $40,000 from a friend and offering red packets to two colleagues for assisting a student with the admission to a master’s programme administered by him.
