The ICAC is aware that an open allegation has been made by a legislator concerning the offering of a bribe for him to vote for the political reform package.
The corruption allegation is serious in nature and has caused significant public concern.
In the light of the significant public concern caused, the ICAC considers it to be in the public interest to confirm that an investigation into the allegation is being undertaken.
It is the ICAC’s statutory duty to receive and consider complaints alleging corrupt practices and to investigate them where practicable. Any person who has come across corruption or has information on such activities or otherwise suspects that such activities are taking place should report to the ICAC in the first instance.
