ICAC Club 25th anniversary: fostering probity culture in community

2022-10-30

Over the past 25 years, members of the ICAC Club committed to promoting integrity messages in the community by spending more than 70,000 hours in total as voluntary helpers in various anti-corruption programmes to safeguard the integrity culture in Hong Kong.

At today’s (October 30) ICAC Club 25th Anniversary Award Presentation Ceremony, ICAC Commissioner Woo Ying-ming commended the ICAC Club for providing diversified voluntary services to the Commission. He also remarked that the ICAC Club Youth Chapter, which was set up in 2017, had provided opportunities to the young members to use their creativity and talents in organising various anti-corruption programmes, and helped entrench the probity culture into the community.

To cultivate the integrity of young people, the ICAC Club launched a mentoring programme earlier this year. A total of 10 retired ICAC officers served as mentors to pair up with 13 ICAC Club Youth Chapter members. Through sharing their career and life planning experiences, they walked with the young people to uphold integrity.

Due to the epidemic, the ICAC Club Award Presentation Ceremony was suspended for the past two years. This year, over 450 members who had actively participated in volunteer work over the past three years were lauded for their service. Among them, 185 members attended today’s event to commemorate the ICAC Club’s 25th anniversary.

The ICAC Club is a voluntary service group set up in 1997 to promote civic participation in anti-corruption activities. It now has over 3,000 members from different strata of the community.

Among the guests attending today’s ceremony were the Chairman of Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations (CACCR) Professor Simon Ho Shun-man and members Mr Webster Ng Kam-wah, Dr Rocky Tung Yat-ngok, Dr James Wong Kong-tin, Miss Pinky Lau Pik-yiu and Miss Jenny Yung Ching-yi.
