ICAC chief in Russia to address international anti-corruption conference
2015-10-30
ICAC Commissioner Simon Peh Yun-lu today (Friday) embarked on a visit to St. Petersburg, Russia where he would address the Eighth Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) scheduled from October 30 to November 1.
The three-day conference, hosted by the Russian Federation Government, will be attended by about 200 anti-graft and law enforcement officials and experts from nearly 70 jurisdictions as well as international organisations.
As a member of the Executive Committee of the IAACA, Mr Peh will address the Opening Ceremony of the Conference tomorrow (Saturday) and share Hong Kong’s two-pillar approach of combining a probity culture with systemic prevention to keep corruption under control.
Following the Conference, Mr Peh will attend panel discussions as well as the IAACA General Meeting to demonstrate the ICAC’s support for the global cooperation in fighting corruption.
The IAACA, of which the Hong Kong ICAC has been a member since 2007, is a non-governmental international organisation established to strengthen cooperation in worldwide anti-corruption issues and facilitate the effective implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. It comprises more than 300 organisational members from anti-graft as well as law enforcement agencies and related organisations from all over the world.
Accompanying Mr Peh on his visit to St. Petersburg is Ho Wai-chi, Secretary to Commissioner. They will return to Hong Kong on Monday (November 2) after conclusion of the conference.
