In connection with an investigation into a syndicate which allegedly supplied “ scapegoats ” in hawker cases, the ICAC today (Wednesday) arrested one more hawker control grade officer.
The arrestee was a Chief Hawker Control Officer (CHCO), attached to the Eastern District Hawker Control Team of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.
So far, a total of 30 people were arrested. They included two CHCOs, one Senior Hawker Control Officer, 14 serving and one former Assistant Hawker Control Officers. The remaining 12 arrestees were hawkers and the alleged “ scapegoats ” .
So far no arrestee has been charged yet.
Fifteen of the arrestees have been released on bail, pending further enquiries. The rest are being detained by the ICAC.
