ASD site officer arrested for alleged graft

An Assistant Clerk of Works of the Architectural Services Department (ASD) has been arrested by the ICAC for allegedly accepting some $15,000 in bribe in return for lax supervision over construction works at a Tai Po secondary school project.
The alleged bribe-paying subcontractor, responsible for the form work of the school project, has also been arrested in the same operation mounted on Thursday (April 6).
ICAC investigation has revealed that the arrested ASD officer was responsible for overseeing the construction of the Tai Po school between 1997 and 1999.
It is alleged that the ASD officer was offered some $15,000 on three separate occasions by the arrested subcontractor, each time when supervision was tightened.
It is also believed that the ASD officer had allegedly accepted other advantages in the form of entertainment from other subcontractors of the project.
ASD has rendered full co-operation during the ICAC investigation.
The arrested duo, aged 40 and 47, have been released on bail pending further ICAC investigation.
