ICAC funds community projects

Community bodies organising activities that promote anti-corruption message can now apply for funding from the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) under the Community Involvement Programme (CIP).
Projects aimed to promote fairness, honesty and a sense of responsibility among the youth and new arrivals could also apply.
This year ’ s total funding under the CIP is $300,000. The maximum allocation for an approved district-based project and cross-district project will be $5,000 and $20,000 respectively.
The criteria for funding are the project ’ s objective, content, format and effectiveness in spreading the messages as well as the number of participants.
Projects eligible for CIP include seminars, workshops, exhibitions, competitions, outstanding youth award schemes or leadership training programmes.
All applications will be vetted by the Community Liaison Sub-Committee of the ICAC ’ s Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations.
Funded projects must be completed before March 1, 2001.
Apart from granting funds, the ICAC will provide advice on and technical support to the approved projects. Audio-visual facilities, exhibition boards and other corruption prevention publications will also be offered.
Interested bodies can obtain application forms and information from any one of the eight ICAC regional offices or call 2929-4560.
The deadline for application will be May 31, 2000 (Wednesday). A second phase of allocation may be conducted in August if funds are still available.
