ICAC provides round-the-clock election enquiry service
2000-8-2
The Independent Commission Against Corruption will start providing 24-hour telephone enquiry service from today (Wednesday) in connection with the Legislative Council Elections.
Members of the public, including candidates and their election agents, can dial 2920 6530 for enquiries about provisions in the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance, which came into operation on March 3, 2000.
The 24-hour hotline service, which will last until the end of October, is one of the initiatives under the ICAC's Support Clean Elections Campaign.
The Commission will also participate in briefings organised by the Electoral Affairs Commission and Home Affairs Department to help candidates and election agents better understand electoral regulations and legislation.
ICAC officers will, upon request, visit individual candidates to explain the provisions of the new election law.
Members of the public can also dial the ICAC complaints hotline 2526 6366 to report suspected violations of the election law.
