HKSA members visit ICAC

About 50 members of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants visited the Independent Commission Against Corruption this (Saturday) morning as part of the Commission's continuing efforts to open up to the public.
Welcoming the accountants, Assistant Director of Community Relations, Julie Mu, said the visit would help strengthen liaison and mutual co-operation with members of the accounting profession and enable them to have a better understanding of the Commission 's work.
“The ICAC counts on public support in its fight against corruption,” she said.
The visiting accountants are members of the HKSA Accountant Ambassadors programme, under which volunteer services are provided on accounting and system control for Owner Corporations, school management committees, non-profit making organisations, youth bo dies and voluntary agencies.
During the visit, they were briefed by Head of the ICAC Building Management Task Force, Lawrence Tse, on preventive education work for the building management sector.
It was followed by a brief introduction by Head of the Advisory Services Group of the Corruption Prevention Department, Ng Hung-cheung, of the best practices packages produced by the department on the management of non-profit making organisations.
The ambassadors then toured various facilities of the Operations Department –'96 the 24-hour Report Centre, Video Interview Room, Identification Parade Room and the Detention Centre.
