Listed company's former manager faces $2.26m corruption charges

The ICAC today (Monday) charged a former project manager of a public listed company, Easyknit International Holdings Limited (Easyknit), for allegedly accepting $2.26 million in bribes in relation to property investment of the listed company and its subsi diaries.

Chau Chok-ming, 45, currently on ICAC bail, will appear in North Kowloon Court at 9:30 am on Wednesday (June 13) on four corruption charges.

The charges alleged Chau, while employed by Easyknit, of accepting bribes totalling of $2.26 million from Wong Yuk-sim and Ng Kai-ming on four occasions between December 4, 1996 and December 18, 1997.

Wong and Ng were property agents respectively of Chung Shun Property Agency and Chong Hing Group.

The bribes were allegedly for Chau to recommend the two property agents to handle the purchases of various properties in Mongkok by Easyknit and its wholly owned subsidiaries, Mark Profit Development Limited and Grand Profit Development Limited, for redev elopment purposes.

Easyknit offered full assistance to the ICAC during its investigation.
