An Administrative Officer charged for soliciting advantages

A Government Administrative Officer was today (Thursday) charged by the ICAC for allegedly soliciting advantages for providing information to two investment consultants.
Alexander Chow Kai-shun, 33, will appear at 9:30 am in Eastern Court tomorrow (Friday) on two counts of soliciting an advantage under Section 4 of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance.
Chow was alleged to have solicited from two investment consultants advantages for providing them with documentation and information acquired in the course of or from his employment in the then Trade and Industry Bureau (TIB) to assist them in selling inve stment products and services.
The advantages solicited were said to represent 50 per cent of the commissions paid to the consultants by their companies whose products they were selling.
The alleged offences took place between November and December in 1999 when Chow was an Assistant Secretary of TIB.
Chow is currently posted to the Wanchai District Office.
He has been released on ICAC bail, pending his court appearance tomorrow.
