ICAC charges supplier for alleged bribery to secure $6m business relating to HA housing projects

The ICAC today (Thursday) charged a supplier for allegedly offering bribes to a sub-contractor and a middleman for securing purchase orders for $6 million worth of door locks for two Housing Authority (HA) projects.
Leung Wai-tak, 38, partner of Sentry Builders Hardware Limited (Sentry), faces two corruption charges under Section 9(2)(a) of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance. He is currently on bail and will appear at Kowloon City Court at 9:30 am tomorrow (Friday) .
Leung is alleged of having offered $270,000 and $149,850 respectively to Sin Ka-leung of Extensive Trading Company Limited (Extensive), and Ching Tak-chung on May 27, 2000.
Extensive was sub-contracted by HA's main contractor to install door locks at two Private Sector Participation Scheme housing projects at Aldrich Bay and Choi Hung Road.
It was alleged that the bribes were rewards for Sin to place purchase orders in relation to the two projects with Sentry.
