Over 500 runners from the Hong Kong ICAC, consulates and overseas law enforcement agencies in Hong Kong and Macau's Commission Against Corruption took part in the ICAC's first International Road Race at the Victoria Peak this (Saturday) morning to compete for the Regional Liaison Cup.
In presenting the Regional Liaison Cup to the winner, which was Hong Kong's ICAC team, ICAC Commissioner Alan Lai Nin said he was pleased to see that the annual road race took on an international flavour this year.
There were 50 representatives from consulates of Canada, Egypt, India and the United States, as well as officers of the Australian Federal Police, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Macau's Commission Against Corruption taking part in today's roa d race.
"It provides an opportunity for strengthening our ties and friendship with our counterparts in Macau and consulates in Hong Kong," Mr Lai said.
Head of Operations Tony Kwok noted that the race this year attracted the biggest turnout –'96 550 participants from the ICAC and other organisations.
The ICAC Road Race has been organised as a staff and family event since 1979. This year it was extended to representatives from consulates, overseas law enforcement agencies and organisations for the first time.
In today's race, participants in different divisions were required to finish 3.62 km along Harlegh Road and Lugard Road on The Peak. The best time was 13 minutes 25 seconds.
