ICAC launches HK's first Moral Education Web

2002-5-12

Hong Kong' s first Moral Education Web which aims at providing a resource centre for educators from kindergartens to secondary schools made its debut today (Sunday).

The new website, the latest initiative of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, is also designed as a platform for exchange of ideas and experiences on issues relating to moral education.

To mark the launch of the website, the ICAC and the Radio Television of Hong Kong (RTHK) today jointly organised a forum to discuss various moral education issues for about 150 students, teachers and guests.

Officiating at a brief kick-off ceremony at the start of the forum, ICAC's Assistant Director of Community Relations Department, Mr Francis Li Kwok-kay, said, "The website is aimed at providing a comprehensive range of moral education materials developed by the ICAC as well as a forum for exchange among educators."

RTHK's Head of Chinese Programme Service, Mrs Chiu Wong Fat-chi, noted that apart from organising the forum which would also be broadcast in tonight's RTHK youth programme Teen's Park , a series of interviews with eminent personalities on positive values in life were being aired in an RTHK morning programme to promote the website.

The new ICAC moral education website ( www.icac.org.hk/me ) is designed to serve over 60,000 teachers in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools as well as moral education workers.

It consists of four main sections, contents of which are easy to navigate and search. One of the sections, the Moral Education Resources Section, contains more than 600 teaching packages and the Corruption Prevention Guide for Schools developed by the ICAC.

The Student Cases Section is a collection of student counseling cases complemented with analysis by and suggestions from experienced social workers.

The Moral Education Activities Section and the Teachers' Forum Section allow users and schools to share their experiences and insights on moral education issues.
