Police Constable and artiste charged with allegedly perverting justice over traffic accident

A Police Constable and an artiste were today (Thursday) charged by the ICAC with alleged conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice in relation to a traffic accident which occurred in Central in March this year.
Lau Chi-wai, 28, Police Constable, and Nicholas Tse, 21, artiste of Emperor Entertainment Group Limited, will appear at Western Magistracy at 9:30 am tomorrow (Friday) .
The duo face one count of conspiring together and with Shing Kwok-ting and another person to pervert the course of public justice between March 23 and April 12, 2002 by allowing Shing to falsely present himself, in substitution for Tse, as the driver of a private car in the police investigation of a traffic accident.
The traffic accident involving the said private car took place at Cotton Tree Drive on March 23, 2002.
Shing had earlier pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice relating to the same matter. He was sentenced to four months' imprisonment.
Lau and Tse have been released on ICAC bail, pending their court appearances tomorrow.
