ICAC officers commended for outstanding anti-graft work

Seventy-four ICAC officers were today (November 23) awarded commendations in recognition of their outstanding performance, professionalism and devotion in the fight against corruption.
Speaking at the 2016 Awards Presentation Ceremony, ICAC Commissioner Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu commended the ICAC officers for their dedication, commitment and relentless efforts towards the anti-graft mission.
“The awardees today have set good examples, and I hope every ICAC colleague will continue their work with the highest degree of professionalism in a bid to help uphold the probity culture and core values of Hong Kong,” Mr Peh said.
At today’s ceremony, two officers were awarded the Commissioner’s Commendation for their outstanding leadership, organisational skills and professional ability in the investigation of three cases.
Acting Principal Investigator Tang Chi-kong was honoured for his exemplary performance in an investigation leading to the convictions of an administrative manager of a listed company and a businesswoman of conspiracy to defraud and money laundering, and the conviction of a deputy chairman of the listed company of perverting the course of public justice.
Chief Investigator Gary Leung Hiu-yin was also commended for his professionalism in a complex investigation leading to the convictions of a joint chairman cum executive director and a vice president of a listed company and a merchant of conspiracy to defraud and money laundering.
Eleven investigators, who received the Operations Department Directorate Commendation, were commended for their devotion to duty and professionalism in investigating various cases.
The recipients were Senior Investigators Henry Lung Ho-yan, Kenny Wong Hock-kan, William Lam Wing-kit, Thomas Ho Chi-hang, Eric Chan Cheuk-hay, Lawrence Hong Chi-man, Jason See Chiu-kwan, Monica Lo In, Fiona Wan Wing-yan; Investigators Berek Fung Chi-kin and Jessie Fu Wai-yan.
In addition, 43 investigating officers also received the Operations Department Assistant Director’s Commendation for their outstanding performances in the investigation of various ICAC cases.
Meanwhile, Chief Corruption Prevention Officer Woo Ka-chun was commended the Director of Corruption Prevention’s Commendation for his professionalism and ability in developing the Anti-Corruption Programme – A Guide for Listed Companies and a programme to meet the new anti-corruption requirements under the Listing Rules.
Two officers of the Community Relations Department received the Director of Community Relations’ Commendation this year. Senior Youth & Education Officer Winnie Tsang Shuk-wah was commended for her professionalism in producing the commemorative publication for the 25th Anniversary of the ICAC Periodical, while Senior Community Relations Officer Debbie Ly Uyen-g was praised for planning and organising an education campaign under the “Support Clean Elections” programmes in 2015 and 2016.
In addition, a total of 10 officers received the Assistant Director’s Commendation of the Corruption Prevention Department and Community Relations Department respectively, while five officers of the Administration Branch were awarded the Administration Branch Assistant Director’s Commendation.
At the ceremony, three former and three serving ICAC officers, who were earlier honoured by the Government, also received souvenirs from the Commissioner.
They were former Head of Operations Ryan Wong Sai-chiu who received the Silver Bauhinia Star; former Assistant Director of Corruption Prevention Ng Hung-cheung and Assistant Director of Operations Eric Yang Yan-tak who received the Hong Kong ICAC Medal for Distinguished Service; former Principal Mass Communication Officer Helen Lee Ching Po-han, Senior Staff Officer Francis Sham Ka-fai and Chief Investigator Remus Lau Tin-hing who received the Hong Kong ICAC Medal for Meritorious Service.
