New Deputy ICAC Commissioner and Head of Operations appointed

The Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), Mr Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong, today (Friday) announced that Mr Daniel Li Ming-chak has been appointed Deputy Commissioner and Head of Operations of the ICAC.
Mr Li, 50, now Director of Investigation (Private Sector), will take up the post upon the retirement of Mr Tony Kwok Man-wai, the incumbent Head of Operations, with effect from October 16.
"With his broad investigative and management experience, I have every confidence in Mr Li to continue to uphold the effectiveness and professionalism of the Operations Department in the fight against corruption.
"Under the leadership of Mr Li, I am sure the Operations Department will go from strength to strength in maintaining Hong Kong as one of the cleanest cities in the world," said the ICAC Commissioner.
Meanwhile, the ICAC Commissioner also announced that Mr Gilbert Chan Tak-shing, now an Assistant Director of Operations, has been appointed Director of Investigation, subsequent to the appointment of Mr Li.
The Commissioner also took the opportunity to pay tribute to Mr Kwok for his 27 years of dedicated service to the ICAC and his distinguished leadership in the past six years as the Head of Operations.
"Mr Kwok has made tremendous contribution in advancing the professionalism of ICAC's investigative arm over the years to keep abreast of increasingly sophisticated corruption crime," the Commissioner added.
Mr Li, the newly appointed Head of Operations, joined the ICAC as an Investigating Officer in 1977. He was promoted to Assistant Director of Operations in 1993, and Director of Investigation in 1996.
Mr Li was awarded the Hong Kong ICAC Medal for Distinguished Service (IDS) by the Chief Executive in 1998 for his outstanding leadership and exemplary performance.
Mr Li holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Hong Kong.
Mr Chan joined the ICAC in 1977 and was promoted to Assistant Director of Operations in 1996. He holds a bachelor's degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
