Policeman charged for allegedly taking bribes to 'fix up' blackmail and triad investigation

A Detective Police Constable (DPC) was charged by the ICAC for allegedly taking bribes from a defendant in a police case for "fixing up" an investigation into alleged blackmail and triad offences.
Li Po-kwok, 38, will appear at Kowloon City Magistracy at 9:30 am tomorrow (Friday) on a corruption charge.
The charge alleged Li of accepting $5,000 from Yuen Chi-wing on March 5, 2002 as a reward for assisting Yuen in a police investigation of offences of blackmail and claiming to be a member of triad society alleged to have been committed by Yuen.
The alleged offence was uncovered by the ICAC in the course of a corruption investigation. Li was arrested in an operation on March 5 this year.
Li is now on ICAC bail, pending his court appearance tomorrow.
