2003-2-28
ICAC Commissioner Mr Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong today (Friday) met over 100 tertiary students from Hong Kong, the Mainland, Macau and Singapore who visited the Commission prior to their participation in a youth summit to be held in Hong Kong.
The Youth Summit, entitled “ Corporate Governance for the New Generation ”, is jointly organised by the ICAC with other youth organisations and professional bodies to strengthen tertiary students’ understanding of the concept of corporate governance and personal ethics to prepare them for challenges in their future careers.
Welcoming the students with Mr Moses Cheng, chairman of the programme organising committee, Mr Lee said the Youth Summit signified the joint efforts of the community and the ICAC in promoting ethics amongst the young generation.
He also said the positive response to the programme testified that young people from different places shared a common concern on the issues of corporate governance and ethical leadership.
Mr Lee stressed that the ICAC was committed to promoting a culture of integrity amongst the youth through various channels including face-to-face talks, projects, teaching packages and websites.
As part of the orientation programme, the students toured the facilities of the Operations Department to learn first hand Hong Kong’s anti-corruption experience.
Tomorrow, they will join another 500 local and overseas tertiary students at the Youth Summit, which is the climax of a Youth Study Programme on corporate governance.
