Company shareholder in court over attempting to pervert public justice

A shareholder of a marketing company appeared in the Eastern Magistracy today (November 24) after being charged by the ICAC with attempting to pervert public justice by instructing a woman to destroy information in respect of a corruption investigation against him.
Lin Tak-kam, 27, de facto shareholder of The Tribe Limited (TTL), who was charged on Tuesday (November 22), faced one count of attempting to do an act tending and intended to pervert the course of public justice, contrary to Common Law and Section 159G of the Crimes Ordinance.
No plea was taken. Acting Principal Magistrate Mr Joseph To Ho-shing adjourned the case until December 16, 2016 for plea.
During the course of the corruption investigation, the above alleged offence of attempting to pervert the course of public justice was revealed.
The charge alleged that on February 29, 2016, the defendant attempted to pervert the course of public justice by instructing a woman, namely another de facto shareholder of TTL, to destroy information in respect of a criminal investigation against him for allegations of corruption.
The defendant was granted cash bail of $10,000. He was also ordered to reside at his reported address, and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses.
The prosecution was today represented by ICAC officer Serena Lam.
