In response to press enquiries, an ICAC spokesman confirmed that 14 persons arrested in connection with its investigation into alleged bribery over preferential treatment of certain singers in relation to a music billboard are still being detained for inq uiries.

So far, a total of 22 persons have been arrested, while 28 other individuals have been interviewed in relation to the investigation.

ICAC inquiries alleged that senior personnels of a record company and an entertainment company might have offered advantages to a broadcasting company’s senior executives for promoting certain singers.

In return, the broadcasting company’s senior executives were alleged to have ensured that hits of those singers be given favourable positions on a music billboard, and various musical awards were granted to them.

Investigation further alleged that the president of the record company concerned had accepted bribe payments for altering the provisions of a contract with a singer.

Inquiries are continuing.
