The ICAC today (Monday) issues the following statement in relation to the 2003 Rural Committee Election for Shap Pat Heung, Yuen Long:
"The ICAC is investigating into alleged breach of the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (E(CIC)O) in connection with the 2003 Rural Committee Election for Shap Pat Heung, Yuen Long.
The ICAC inquiry concerns allegations in relation to corrupt conduct to bribe electors, provide refreshments and entertainment at election, use force or duress against electors, as well as illegal conduct over election expenses, respectively under Section s 11, 12, 13 and 23 of E(CIC)O.
No further details can be disclosed at this stage as the investigation is in progress."
