In response to media enquiries, an ICAC spokesman said the Commission has until now received 351 complaints alleging irregularities concerning the 2003 District Council (DC) Election, 339 of which were pursuable.
Of the 351 complaints, 223 complaints concern illegal conduct under the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (ECICO), while the remainder are related to suspected corrupt conduct and bribery offences.
The spokesman said the complaints received mainly concerned allegations in relation to publishing false or misleading statements about candidates, bribing electors and others at election as well as publishing election advertisements that included false cl aims of support.
Members of the public who wish to lodge complaints about suspected corrupt and illegal conduct in the election may call the 24-hour ICAC report hotline at 2526 6366, or contact its Regional Offices.
