Public relations professionals visit ICAC to enhance liaison and understanding

2004-3-13

About 50 members of the Hong Kong Public Relations Professionals' Association (PRPA) visited the ICAC this (Saturday) morning as part of the Commission's on-going community programmes to enhance liaison and understanding with professional bodies.

Programme Coordinator (Business Sector) of the ICAC's Community Relations Department, Mrs Helen Lee Ching Po-han, briefed the visitors on the Commission’s overall publicity and media strategy for enlisting public support in the fight against corruption.

She noted that the ICAC had in recent years strengthened its partnerships with various professional bodies in promoting anti-corruption messages and maintaining Hong Kong’s fine reputation as one of the least corrupt places in the world.

During the briefing, Mrs Lee also discussed with PPRA members the ethical dilemmas and common corruption pitfalls relating to public relations, media and advertising organisations.

The visitors also toured the Operations Department facilities including the Exhibition Hall and the Identification Parade Room and were briefed on the procedures of handling complaints and conducting interviews with suspects and witnesses.

In the past few years, similar visits have been organised for various professional bodies and organisations, including the Hong Kong Society of Accountants and the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, to enhance their understanding of ICAC's work.
