2004-4-14
The former chairman of an owners incorporation (OI) of a residential building in Happy Valley was today (Wednesday) charged by the ICAC for allegedly stealing over $89,000 from the OI.
William Tam Yiu-wai, 48, former chairman of the Incorporated Owners of Greenside Villa, will appear in Eastern Magistracy at 9:30 am on Friday (April 16, 2004) on one count of theft.
The case arose from a corruption complaint, alleging that Tam might have accepted advantages from a contractor as rewards for assisting him in obtaining maintenance projects from the OI. ICAC enquiries revealed the alleged theft offence.
The charge alleges that between November 1, 1999 and April 30, 2002, Tam had stolen a total of about $89,000 belonging to the Incorporated Owners of Greenside Villa.
The defendant has been released on ICAC bail, pending his court appearance on Friday.
