District Councillor and wife charged for alleged voting offences at Eastern DC Election

The ICAC has charged a member of the Eastern District Council (DC) and his wife for allegedly committing voting offences at the 2003 Eastern DC Election.
Choi Sai-chuen, 55, a member of the Eastern DC, and his wife, Wong Sau-po, 48, will appear in Eastern Magistracy at 9:30 am tomorrow (Thursday), each facing one count of engaging in corrupt conduct with respect to voting at an election, contrary to Sectio n 16(1)(b) of the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance.
Choi is alleged to have engaged in corrupt conduct at the 2003 Eastern DC Election (Fort Street Constituency) by voting at the election on November 23, 2003, after having given to an electoral officer information that he knew to be materially false or mis leading.
The alleged false information, contained in a declaration in an Application for Voter Registration (Geographical Constituencies)/Report on Change of Residential Address dated July 14, 2003, purportedly showed that his only or principal residence was a pre mises at King's Road, North Point.
Wong faces a similar offence.
The defendants have been released on ICAC bail, pending their court appearances tomorrow.
