Two more charged for alleged perversion over illegal excavation of rocks from Tung Chung River

Two more persons were today (Monday) charged by the ICAC for their alleged involvement in the illegal excavation of rocks from Tung Chung River.
Lo Chi-kong, 43, and Law May-choi, 52, both members of the Tung Chung Rural Committee (TCRC), will appear at 9:30 am at Tsuen Wan Magistracy on Wednesday (July 21, 2004) on one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice.
The charge alleges that between December 9 and 28, 2003, Lo Chi-kong and Law May-choi had conspired with Law Kam-fai, Wong Yat-wah, Li Kwai-mo, Mok Kwong-ming, Fan Chi-ping, Cheung Kwok-kwong and Wong Sing-lam to pervert the course of public justice by ag reeing to falsely represent to the Police and any other officers of the Hong Kong Government that:
- TCRC held an informal meeting in about July 2003 to discuss the flooding problem of Tung Chung River; and
- during the informal meeting, Wong Yat-wah was authorised by TCRC to excavate rocks from Tung Chung River to ease the water flow for the purpose of solving the flooding problem.
The alleged co-conspirators had earlier been charged by the ICAC and appeared in court in connection with the case.
Lo Chi-kong and Law May-choi have been released on ICAC bail, pending their court appearances on Wednesday.
