Statement by the Operations Review Committee

The following statement is issued on behalf of Dr Andrew Chuang Siu-leung, Chairman of the Operations Review Committee:
In view of public interest expressed in the community in respect of the ICAC operation that occurred during the last weekend, the Operations Review Committee convened special meetings today and yesterday to apprise itself of the circumstances behind the o peration and of the actions taken.
Having reviewed the material presented by the Commission in light of public concerns and after detailed questioning, discussion and consideration of the material, the majority of the Committee members were satisfied that the action taken was legal and pro per in all circumstances. One member’s views were reserved.
In view of the impending legal proceedings, the Committee considers it would be inappropriate to make further comment in relation to these matters.
The Committee will continue to monitor the progress of this investigation in accordance with its terms of reference.
