ICAC officers honoured for outstanding performance

Twenty-nine officers of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) were today (Friday) presented awards in recognition of their outstanding performance in anti-corruption work.
Speaking at the ICAC Awards Presentation Ceremony, ICAC Commissioner Mr Raymond Wong Hung-chiu said the Commission had gone a long way to become the top-notch anti-corruption agency of the world.
"Our success has been hard earned and is undoubtedly the result of the perseverance and strenuous efforts of our colleagues in eradicating corruption over the past 30 years," Mr Wong said.
The Commissioner noted that with concerted efforts and undivided determination, the ICAC would maintain vibrancy and effectiveness in furthering its mission of combating corruption.
Five ICAC officers were awarded the Commissioner's Commendation for their exemplary performance.
Chief Investigator Eric Tong Wing-tak had demonstrated outstanding leadership, organizational skills, perseverance and professional ability in a corruption investigation involving a former government engineer, who was earlier jailed for seven years for ac cepting bribes from contractors and suppliers.
Three other recipients of the Commissioner's Commendation were Senior Investigators James Ip Siu-ming and Brenda Wong Yuk-fei, and Assistant Investigator May Lam Wai-chun. They were commended for their professionalism in detecting various cases.
These cases related to investigations into corruption and misconduct in public office involving a former senior police officer, and a fraudulent scheme orchestrated by two senior executives of a listed company.
Regional Officer Corinna Wong Kit-mui received the Commissioner's Commendation for displaying leadership, professionalism and devotion of duty of an exceptionally high order in planning and organizing various projects in relation to the ICAC 30th Annivers ary.
Thirteen other investigators were awarded the Operations Department Directorate Commendation for their dedicated efforts in various corruption investigations.
They were Chief Investigator Sydney Sun Hiu-ming; Senior Investigators Nelson Lau Chau-wing, Sunny Cheung Chun-sing, Henley Tsun Hon-yin, Terry Chow Kwok-hung, Patrick Kwok Wai-man, Michael Burley; Investigators Tommy Lui Kar-chung, Terence Cheung Chung-y iu, Tang Chi-kong, Stella Leung Wing-kam; and Assistant Investigators Kate Cheuk Chi-yan and Fiona Li Siu-wai.
Seven officers received the Director of Community Relations' Commendation for their outstanding performance and a high degree of professionalism in organising, coordinating and implementing various projects of the ICAC 30th Anniversary, as well as the 200 4 ICAC TV drama series.
The officers were Regional Officer Lawrence Tse Kin-kuen, Art Director Josiah Lam Chin-sang, Deputy Programme Coordinator (District Organisations) Yvonne Mui Yee-yu, Senior ICAC Officers Phoebe Chan Kit-ling, Anita Lo Heung-lan, Mark Chan Chun-yan, and An na Lam Shuk-yee.
Two officers of the Corruption Prevention Department (CPD) –'96 Eileen Lau Yuk-kam, Daphne Lam Yuen-to –'96 were presented with the Director of Corruption Prevention's Commendation for their outstanding professional ability in coordinating the production of the CPD chapter on the ICAC website.
The Director of Corruption Prevention's Commendation was also accorded to two other CPD officers, Jeffrey Chan Chun-wai and Lucia Hung Wong Yeuk-man, for outstanding professionalism in coordinating and supervising the production of training videos for the construction industry and public procurement.
The ICAC Commissioner also presented souvenirs to three senior ICAC officers who were earlier honoured by the government. They were Principal Investigator Peter Gregory and Chief Investigator Anthony Cheung Chung-tat, who were awarded the Hong Kong ICAC Medals for Meritorious Service (IMS); and ICAC officer Ho Fung-yee who received the Medal of Honour.
Meanwhile, 27 officers received long service medals for serving the Commission for 18, 25 or 30 years, while 40 staff from various ranks were given the 10 Years’ ICAC Service Plaques.
Thirteen other staff members of the general and support grades were awarded the 20 years', 30 years' or the 40 years' Government Meritorious Service Certificates.
