ICAC invites bids for funds to promote clean society through community projects
2006-4-6
Community groups are invited to apply for funds under the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC)'s Community Involvement Programme to organise district projects to promote a culture of probity in society.
An ICAC spokesman said: "The CIP, launched annually since 1988, aims to encourage community bodies to organise various types of activities to spread anti-corruption messages and to promote integrity and fairness."
In the current financial year, $150,000 has been earmarked to subsidise projects for new arrivals in various districts. Each approved project will receive a maximum of $5,000 in subsidy.
All applications will be vetted by the Mass Media and Education Sub-Committee of the ICAC's Citizen's Advisory Committee on Community Relations.
"Apart from financial subsidies, the ICAC can provide technical support, including audio-visual facilities, exhibition boards and other corruption prevention materials to assist the community groups," the spokesman added.
Proposed projects can take the form of workshops, exhibitions, seminars, competitions, carnivals and leadership training programmes.
Interested bodies can obtain application forms from the ICAC's regional offices or call 2158 5903 during office hours for enquiries. The deadline for application is May 8, 2004 (Monday).
